Multi-Family LP SmartSide Lap & Shake
St. Charles, IL I Commercial
Two profiles, one elevation.
LP SmartSide goes on in two profiles here, and the mix is what keeps a building this long from reading as a wall. Lap carries the main field; shake breaks up the gables and the upper storeys so each section reads as its own mass rather than one continuous run. On a four-storey building sitting across open water, that distinction shows from a long way off.
Every elevation faces something — the pond, the drive, or the next building — so there was no back side to be casual about.
Aluminum Gutters, Soffit & Fascia
New aluminum gutters, downspouts, soffit, and fascia went on with the siding, which is the only sensible sequence: the trim ties into the siding courses, and doing them separately means opening the same wall twice.
What Made It Different
Lap in the main field, shake on the gables and upper storeys. The mix is what stops a four-storey building sitting across open water from reading as one long wall.
