The building sits on a brick courtyard in downtown Geneva with a tea room, a coworking space, and offices above — all of them open while we worked. Scaffolding had to leave the entrances usable, the courtyard had to stay walkable for customers, and noisy work had to be scheduled around business hours rather than ours.

Two materials carry the elevation. LP SmartSide lap runs the upper two storeys where the building reads as one clean mass. Natural cedar shake wraps the ground floor, breaking the storefront band into individual bays and giving the street level a texture people actually touch on the way past. Windows were replaced across the whole building at the same time — which is the only sensible sequence, since the flashing ties into the siding courses.
